“Mariacka Under the Stars is when amber and art meet in the natural setting of old Gdańsk’s most beautiful street, which is famous for its amber studios and galleries,” says Ewa Rachoń, AMBERMART Project Manager. “This is already the second edition of the Mariacka Street Celebration, which we have organised together with the International Amber Association and all the cultural and artistic institutions linked to Mariacka Street.
We will also have the fabulous involvement of the galleries, cafés and local residents who invite everyone to their perrons (entrance terraces) and have all sorts of attractions in store.”
That evening almost every perron on Mariacka Street will feature concerts, previews and workshops.
Classical music lovers will get to hear Bach and Chopin, jazz aficionados can listen to the Mikołaj Trzaska Trio (Mikołaj Trzaska – saxophones, Tomasz Sowiński – drums, Adam Żuchowski – double bass). Amber jewellery studios will open their doors to visitors, while curious kids and adults can expect to see experiments and join in scientific fun and games with amber. You will see designer jewellery, amber sculptures, painting, prints, photography, ceramics and glass. You can take a peek into the vestibule of Marian Kołodziej’s house, watch short films and see archival photographs of Mariacka Street. On the perrons, there will also be tellers of all kinds of stories.
